Associate Professor-NTTA-Clinical Skills Long Island University
The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Long Island University (LIU) in Brookville, New York invites applications from self-directed, motivated individuals to join LIU-CVM faculty in the field of veterinary clinical skills. The position may be filled at a full-time clinical-track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. We are seeking a small animal clinician interested in teaching in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.
The veterinary skills small animal clinician will be part of a team that helps teach, both clinical and profession skills, to the year 1-3 veterinary students. Areas of instruction include clinical skills, professionalism, practice management, communication, record keeping, and ethics. Teaching will involve didactic lectures, laboratory instruction with models, and hands-on training with companion animals. Duties include working with partner affiliates to assist with hands-on clinical skills, assisting in the simulation laboratory, and overseeing the delivery of the learning objectives. Priority review will be given to candidates whose strength is teaching and clinical skills.
Active engagement in curriculum development, identification or creation of innovative learning resources, and committee service participation (such as admissions, curriculum, research, etc.) is expected.
The College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University:
Currently, with over sixty off-campus clinical sites, LIU CVM will utilize a distributed model of clinical education. Underway and soon to be completed are facilities with advanced equipment designed to accommodate specific instructional needs connected to the delivery of the DVM program.
The successful candidate will have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree. Specialty board certification is not necessary but will be considered advantageous. Candidates will have a successful teaching record and evidence that they embrace a team approach to problem solving. Additionally, candidates will have good communication skills and the ability to promote a culture of diversity and inclusiveness.
