Do you enjoy managing people, while also ensuring all animals under your care receive the necessary medical care? If so, then the position of Manager, Licensed Veterinary Technicians (the Manager) at the ASPCA Adoption Center may be for you!
As a key member of the medical team, you’ll closely partner with the veterinarians and other colleagues to deliver excellent patient care at the Adoption Center for approximately 3,000 at-risk pets per year, and will work collaboratively and effectively with internal and external stakeholders to further the ASPCA’s ultimate desired outcome that all animals live good lives. You will partner with the Director, Medical Operations to ensure compassionate, quality patient care is provided by the LVTs to all canines and felines cared for by the Adoption Center. You will address the animals’ health concerns, in order to improve their welfare and move them quickly into safe and loving homes.
The Center currently provides shelter and adoption for five groups of animals:
All medical care is provided within the parameters of the Adoption Center’s shelter medicine protocols and aligned with ASPCA One Fund guidelines. To succeed in this role, the Manager will be an excellent supervisor and coach who enjoys working with both people and animals. The LVT team will deliver compassionate nursing care and assist the veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and diagnostic testing procedures following low-stress handling principles and shelter medicine best practices. Success also hinges on the ability to collaborate within the larger medical team and with other teams at the Adoption Center; the Manager will help ensure adequate support is provided to the veterinarians while also providing direct patient care that ensure the animals’ physical and behavioral needs are met on both an individual patient and population level.
