We typically have 2 front desk, 4 nurses, 1 surgery nurse, & 2 support on the morning shift 745-5, and an entire copy of that team for the evening shift 11-CL (usually one less nurse). In the middle of the day that's 15+ people to support 3 DVMs on the floor, our usual. Our local family owns and operates Easthaven as well as our sister hospital Dandy Acres; one of us is also present for most hours of operation. We would have your back (all sides of you, actually!) We're Goldilocks. We're the right size - not too small: we're big enough to be able to afford the best equipment, training, continuing education, people, time off & other benefits, and all the other not-so-obvious operating expenses that helps make a workplace a place to look forward to (we've grown a lot in the last 2 years, by the way). Not too big: we're small enough that we know our patients and clients by name, and can work behind the scenes on patient care closely. Whether clients know it or not, we often get multiple veterinarians weighing in on patient cases. We don't pay commission. All our veterinarians are salary or hourly. We want you to be able to practice the best medicine without the influences of commission-based pay. Commission discourages collaboration. Collaboration = better patient care! And it's more fun for our doctors to work together...you don't have to struggle on your own with every single case! (VIN is nice but it only goes so far!) Our clients. Our patients. If you don't know the South Lyon / Ann Arbor / Ypsilanti and surrounding area well yet, we've got a great mix of clients from all walks of life and backgrounds. We have a significant number of well-educated clients that are on board with us practicing medicine the way we wish to. Of course, we do wellness and puppy / kitten visits - but we see many sick or hurt patient cases that make every day interesting. We go home fulfilled. The other stuff. Cool city to work in? Stellar reputation in the community? Modern facility? Hospital has the fun toys - ultrasound, digital rads and dental rads, laser therapy, comprehensive surgery suite, UA analyzer, and more? Advanced dentistry? $50k avg a year on CE 'cause we're lifelong learners? Clean as a whistle? Safe protocols for COVID/no clients in the building since March 2020? Multiple DVM colleagues at Easthaven and our sister hospital Dandy Acres to collaborate with? 30 year DVM Dr. Therese McCarthy available for consulting on the weird stuff? About Easthaven Animal Hospital / Dandy Acres Animal Hospital
Easthaven Animal Hospital is a multi-veterinarian practice in sunny Ann Arbor, Michigan. At Easthaven, despite the building having been around since 1963 we have new ultrasound and radiograph machines within the last 12-18 months, a modern surgical suite and broad in-house lab capability (and we've remodeled the place steadily over time since it passed to our McCarthy family in 2016). We are well staffed with a high DVM to team member ratio. Some of our veterinarians travel back and forth between Easthaven and our sister hospital, Dandy Acres Animal Hospital in South Lyon, MI, which has also been around for decades and passed to our McCarthy family in 2004. We are locally/family owned and operated by Dr. Therese McCarthy, a 30 year veterinarian, and family. We take great care of everyone on our teams, especially during the current trying times during COVID. We have high expectations for our medicine and a large focus on continuing education.
