We are currently seeking full-time and part-time veterinarians for in home senior/ hospice/euthanasia positions to help us continue to provide for a growing community need. We will even throw in skilled home-based care coordinators familiar with Houston's traffic and neighborhoods, a hospice center you can see appointments in, the use of a company vehicle for appointments, your very own trained technician/assistant, a certified hospice manager to answer after hours calls from your clients, additional team members to assist with large dogs., access to a team of DVMs with over twenty years of combined experience in palliative care/hospice, and a loving community waiting to embrace you! We partner with local specialty, emergency, and general practice veterinarians seeking to provide or refer for compassionate, reliable, and trustworthy home care services to their families. Senior Paws, a BluePearl Veterinary Partner, is a compassionate team of credentialed veterinarians and support personnel passionate about palliative and end of life care for companion animals and caregiving families. We are particularly looking for veterinarians with some weekend and afternoon availability to help care for families in need of assistance during these times. This opportunity suits licensed veterinarians looking for flexibility in their career and those with a commitment to pain and symptom management and exceptional client communication skills.
About us: Veterinary hospice & palliative care is an emerging field of veterinary medicine and Senior Paws is dedicated to being at the forefront of it. We are currently Texas’s first and largest veterinary palliative care team with a dedicated client/patient support center located in NW Houston. Our veterinarians provide home-based and office consultations, supporting families in accessing palliative care services with a focus on pain management, symptom control, quality of life guidance, and compassionate euthanasia. We have a strong commitment to working alongside a patient’s primary care and specialty care veterinary team and see our services as supplementary to this.
You will be working with the support of a wonderful team who will coordinate your appointments, provide technical help during visits, and ongoing physical and emotional assistance to patients and caretakers. Senior Paws is proud to have two veterinarian/mentors and two LVTs who are certified as hospice & palliative care providers through the International Association of Animal Hospice & Palliative Care organization to help train and guide other veterinarians in becoming effective and efficient pet hospice and in-home euthanasia providers. DVMs work in a team with a dedicated technician/assistant to help you throughout your shifts. Our team is 20 strong. In addition, we work closely with mental health professionals who handle all aspects of the grieving process - before, during and after - whenever called upon.
About the Work: The role of the palliative care veterinarian itself is flexible and is designed to allow a decent work-life balance around family, everyday life, and even another clinical job. Who we need: We are looking for DVMs who are natural communicators and who wish to develop their skills around end-of-life care. This is a growing field with opportunities for your education and professional development. You will be working alongside two of the world’s first Certified Palliative Care Veterinarians and will have access to resources such as the International Association for Animal Hospice & Palliative Care organization and the World Veterinary Palliative Medicine Organization.
