De Cillo Equine Clinic is looking for an equine surgeon to join our 3 practitioners and 2 interns fast paced progressive equine practice. The facility is located in Hempstead, TX just 40 minutes from Houston, College Station (Texas A&M) and Katy (Great Southwest Equestrian Center). Our practice has 3 exam rooms, 1 surgery room, covered lameness exam area. Equine breeding barn and lab, isolation ward with 3 stalls, 25 regular stalls and 7 paddocks. The practice also has 3 digital x rays, 4 digital ultrasounds, 1 and 3 m scopes (gastroscope), Shockwave, Class 4 Laser, 2 Powerfloats, in house CBC, Chemistry, SAA, PRP and IRAP. 4 fully equipped vehicles. Our clientele range from hunter, jumper, dressage, polo and all western modalities. Our clinic is the official clinic for several USEF AA shows at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy. The surgeon will be responsible for elective surgeries like orthopedics( arthroscopic and others), laparoscopy(cryptorquids, ovariectomies etc) and colic surgeries. When not in surgery, he or she will be performing all other types of examinations and procedures that a general equine practitioner are expected to do (routine vaccines, dentals, tube worming). great emphasis in Equine Sports Medicine is a plus, since our clinic is dedicates a lot of time to lameness exams, pre purchases, radiographs and ultrasounds, joint blocks and injections. Veterinarians will take turns on weekends, holidays, and horse show schedules.
ACVS or seating for the boards soon
We are looking for a team player with positive attitude who has the will to help grow the practice and expand our clientele and services. The candidate will be expected to have great communication skills not only with the trainer and clients, but specially with the staff (interns, technicians and other doctors). Our practice sees mostly our own patients, but we do have other colleagues referring specially the colic surgeries to us and that is something that we expect to continue to increase with time.
