Responsible for all aspects of the program, including the management, administration, continuous review and analysis, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the program. The program director is also responsible for areas related to teaching, advising current and prospective students, supervision of faculty and staff related to the program, improvement in the quality of instruction through ongoing development, coaching, and training faculty and staff. The director will also provide leadership for clinical site instruction and staff, analysis of the program data and outcomes, and budget related duties. Uphold compliance with accrediting bodies, state regulators, institutional policies, procedures, and best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Facilitate strategic and academic cycle planning at the college, division, program, advisory committee and course levels, including development and maintenance of experiential and clinical affiliation agreements and clinical and experiential partnerships to augment the academic program.
Responsible for the structure as well as the daily operation of the program, including organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development, and general effectiveness of program curricula and faculty.
Ensure the effectiveness of all clinical affiliates/clinical education centers and provide leadership to coordinators within the department to ensure quality learning environment and experiences for the students.
Will teach one class per academic year.
Participate with the Academic Dean in the fiscal planning and management of the program and its resources.
Maintain regulatory compliance associated with the program’s field of practice and education, including implementation of college policy and division and program procedures, compliance with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board standards and compliance with appropriate regulatory and educational accreditation standards including production of accreditation self-study documents and reports.
Manage appropriate student admission, advisement, progression, graduation, certification, and licensing processes for the program.
Work with faculty and other content experts, maintain currency of curriculum in accordance with programmatic, institutional and other accrediting agencies or regulatory agencies.
Supervise day to day management and evaluation of the program, full-time and associate faculty and staff, facilities and resources to accomplish safe and effective program delivery and coordination of division activities and projects.
Participate in faculty search committees and recommend to the Academic Dean full-time faculty, associate faculty, and staff hires.
Actively seek way to improve instruction collaborating with faculty using current pedagogical innovations and assessment methodologies.
Perform surgical procedures as needed in support of classes requiring surgical procedures. Take emergency calls as needed to maintain resident animal’s health and well-being.
Serves as primary Veterinary of record and institutional veterinarian for the institution. Act as the Veterinarian of Record for USDA and IACUC compliance and oversight of the college animals and VT farm and facilities.
Provide timely faculty mentoring, observations, coaching, and feedback.
Potentially teach courses in accordance with the course syllabus and college policy as needed and allowed by professional regulatory agencies.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work. Requirements Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution and three (3) years of clinical/surgical experience, and the equivalent of two (2) years of experience in technician education through involvement in a practice affiliated with an accredited program, formal teaching, and/or training of new graduates/hires.
Licenses and Certifications Must be a licensed veterinarian
